Diana Colgate first became interested in art as a child when an artist by the name of Butler Wilson came to live with her family. Young Diana would spend hours watching him paint and found herself fascinated by his talent and creativity. This early born interest blossomed in High School as Diana had the opportunity to participate in commercial art classes. She knew then that art would be an important part of her professional life.

After high school, Diana was blessed with marriage to her best friend Jack and the two later welcomed a daughter, Shannah to their lives. Diana later returned to school to earn a degree in Interior Design. Her education led to a rewarding career, working with other designers to customize furniture, floor cloths, and murals.

Diana still fondly recalled the influence of Butler Wilson and her classes in high school and decided she should take time to paint for her own enjoyment. She studied fine art privately with a wonderful artist and teacher, LaVerne Arkenberg. It was through these classes that Diana realized the only thing she loved more then painting was seeing other people learn to appreciate art and find their talents.

Today, Diana teaches classes and workshops from her studio in Shepherdsville , Kentucky and finds her art a wonderful way to express her love of life, home, and family. Although pastels are her medium of choice, she also enjoys work in watercolors, oils, and pencil. Her favorite subjects include portraits, landscapes, doorways, and porches.
